Sonya discovered playwriting during a study-abroad semester at Oxford. Succeeding her studies, she worked at Manhattan Theatre Company and Intiman Theatre in Seattle as an Artistic Assistant. She began writing full length plays in 2005 and four of her plays, Wake, The Thin Place, Royal Blood and Big Rock, have been produced. Her character-driven work centers on the beautiful, painful, messy American family.
